Job Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting. This position is responsible for working with the CFO to develop, document, and maintain the organization’s internal control framework and critical business processes. The position will also be responsible for ensuring the preparation of timely an accurate financial reporting, for both internal and external users. The Accounting Manager will supervise staff accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. The Accounting Manager must be comfortable working in a deadline driven environment and will be responsible for performing a wide range of accounting activities, including having primary responsibility for the maintenance of the general ledger, the monthly financial statement close process, inventory management, coordination of procurement activity with the operations department, management of the Company’s leasing and debt facilities, supervision of AP/AR, supervision of payroll processing, the preparation of monthly management review packages, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, managing external auditors and tax preparers, support of budget and forecasting activities, and other tasks as defined by the CFO and/or CEO. The Accounting Manager will have direct contact the firm’s CEO and CFO which will require strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.


  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure and how to account for the unique aspects of the company’s business model.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information for internal and external users.
  • Provide weekly cash flow reporting to the CFO and CEO and perform daily banking requirements.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of credit card and ACH transactions.
  • Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Supports the budgeting and forecasting activities of the CFO.
  • Collaborates with other Department Managers to provide financial information and insight to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Monitors and analyzes finance department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Advises staff regarding the proper coding and classification of routing and non-routine transactions.
  • Assists the CFO and department managers in development and implementation of new or reengineered business processes to enhance the efficiency of the organization and reduce costs.
  • Provides training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Responsible for handling departmental personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
  • Works with direct report(s) to establish goals and objectives for each year; monitors and advises on progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Supports the CFO and CEO in their interactions with investment bankers and investors.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA preferred but not required

Technical Skills and Prior Experience

  • Three to Five years prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high tech company is preferred.
  • Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a deadline driven, wears-many-hats type of environment. Experience with Quickbooks Enterprise or other automated ERP/accounting system is required. Must have expert level skills with Microsoft Excel, including lookups and pivot tables.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
