Job Description

This is an entry-level position requiring at a minimum CCNA or equivalent college level course work. The individual must have a basic understanding of all aspects of LAN/WAN, communications and security administration, hardware and software technical support analysis, network systems analysis, and configuration management. Key competencies include, Layer 3 switching, routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), redundant system configuration (HSRP), and Cisco firewall technologies. Must be competent to work on complex assignments and perform a full range of technical support activities. Must be willing to make timely decisions based on experience, direction, department guidelines, and company policies.

Salary

$40,000-$48,000 based on qualifications and experience

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and support local and remote portions of the enterprise network as directed.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of network communications.
  • Provide technical support for all LAN/WAN related operations.
  • Participate in the ongoing support and maintenance of existing WAN and LAN infrastructure.
  • Responsible for network performance tuning and monitoring as directed by senior personnel.
  • Participate in design and strategy meetings for assigned IT projects for the enterprise.
  • Evaluate existing communications systems, identify deficiencies, make network performance recommendations, and implement solutions as appropriate.
  • Create and document logical network topologies.
  • Provide continuous research, assessment, and implementation of new technologies, hardware, and software needed to advance all applications and services.
  • Install and configure communications and network equipment as needed.
  • Create and maintain detailed project plans, scope of work, and other technical documentation of all moves, adds, and changes.

Position Requirements

  • TCP/IP Protocol suite - Proficient
  • IP routing protocols (Specifically BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) - Conceptual Understanding
  • OSI Model and Layered Troubleshooting - Proficient
  • Cisco Routers, Switches, Load Balancing, Content Switching and Firewalls (IPSEC VPN Mesh, Cisco FWSM/ASA– experience with Radware IP appliances is preferable. - Conceptual Understanding
  • Cisco IOS configuration and administration – Some Hands-on Experience Necessary
  • Circuit activations, troubleshooting, and provisioning methods - Conceptual Understanding
  • Capacity Planning and Trend Analysis - Conceptual Understanding
  • Bandwidth Management and Event Correlation - Conceptual Understanding
  • Project Management - Conceptual Understanding
  • Network designing for medium to large Enterprise environments - Conceptual Understanding
  • Virtual Private Networks - Conceptual Understanding
  • Wireless - Conceptual Understanding
  • Voice over IP – Conceptual Understanding
  • Enterprise Network Management and SNMP - Conceptual Understanding
  • MPLS VPN and Internetworking - Conceptual Understanding
  • SDN – Virtual Networking – Conceptual Understanding
  • Bachelor's Degree in area of specialty and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Relies on experience, and judgment to perform the functions of the job.
  • Works under general supervision
  • Reports to a supervisor.

Work Conditions

  • Working in a 24x7 on-call environment supporting and troubleshooting systems managed by Brinkster.
  • Working extended hours to meet project deadlines, when needed.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices.
  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of off-site installation and or training
