Shared Hosting Backups and restorations Articles
This article relates only to paid, shared hosting services. This information does not apply to dedicated servers and unpaid accounts.

Brinkster policy for shared hosting service backups are described below. This will outline how often and how long Brinkster stores backups for you. This article covers website files, databases, and email.

Website Files:

Brinkster makes daily disaster-recovery backups of your website files. We suggest that you keep a personal, historical backup of your website files. If you require historical backups we suggest that you download your website files through FTP as often as needed and that you keep them for as long as your personal or corporate policy dictates. It is suggested that you DO NOT rely on Brinkster's backups to restore from events that occurred outside of the previous 12 - 24 hours.

Brinkster backups are created once per day and at a varied time within that day. Each server has a different starting time and the exact starting time for your particular website is not publicly available. The next days backup generally begins 24 hours from the time the backup began on the previous day. Brinkster stores your backup files for a period of 24 hours. At the next backup, the previous day's backup is overwritten.

*Brinkster has began running a backup system which allows for multiple day backups. At this time we are not able to guarantee we will have backups longer than 24 hours. Check with the Brinkster support team to verify the available backups.

If you have a need for file restoration from Brinkster's backups, please open a request with the support team through chat or send an email and we can restore your files as far back as possible.

Database backups:

Database backups pertain only MSSQL databases. Microsoft access databases are stored and managed within your website files, and therefore backups pertaining to these databases are covered with the website files.

Brinkster creates a backup (.bak - MSSQL) of your database on a daily basis. The backup files are stored for a period of 3 or more days.

Brinkster can create a database backup on a per request basis. These are created and moved to the database folder within your account files. If your policies require you to have historical backups of your database, it is suggested that you send a request to create a backup of your MSSQL database along with your account name. The backup file will be placed within your website files which you can then download to your local computer and store for as long and as often as required.

If you need to create a historical backup of your database, please open a request with the support team through chat or send an email and we can restore your files as far back as possible, be sure to include your account name, and the exact database you need backed up.

Email backups and restorations:
